Washington University provides specialized advising for undergraduates, graduate students, and alumni to identify and apply for a number of national and international fellowships and scholarships.

Advisors in the College Office and the Office of Overseas Programs work together to inform students, faculty, and staff about a full range of opportunities and to help students determine which programs best meet their intellectual, professional, and personal goals. Through individual appointments and public workshops we provide the following resources:

  • Counseling on which grant opportunities are the best fit
  • Guidance on the application process
  • Assistance in writing and revising personal statements and project proposals
  • Interview preparation
  • Referrals to resources and information on major scholarships
  • Advice from past scholarship winners and finalists

Students work with academic and non-academic mentors to reflect in precise and clear ways on their personal and academic influences and their professional and post graduate aspirations. While applying for fellowships isn’t easy, the application process allows students the opportunity to further to develop critical thinking, analytical writing, and oral presentation skills, as well as confidence in articulating and pursuing their goals.

Whatever questions you may have about fellowships, we’re eager to help you explore the possibilities they represent and encourage you in the application process. For more information on specific opportunities or to make an appointment with an advisor, fill out our interest form.
